Dr. Aoife Sweeney

FRACP MB BCH BAO MSc Physio

Dr Aoife Sweeney completed a bachelor’s degree and Master of Physiotherapy before studying medicine at Trinity College Dublin where she graduated with honours in 2011 (MB BCH BAO).

She moved from Ireland to Brisbane in 2013 where she completed her fellowship training (FRACP) at The Prince Charles and Gold Coast University hospitals.

She has completed a research fellowship at the Translational Research Institute, Brisbane under the auspices of Professor Ranjeny Thomas investigating links between gut microbiome and Spondyloarthritis and is currently working on a trial investigating the benefit of lifestyle interventions in patients with Rheumatoid arthritis.

Aoife is an associate lecturer with University of Queensland and is a member of the Doctors for the Environment association.

She is mother to two young children and in her spare time, Aoife enjoys pilates.
