Dr Kevin Su is a consultant Rheumatologist who completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy in 2008 and then completed a Bachelor of medicine and Surgery in 2013 at the University of Queensland. He completed his residency and basic physician training based at the Princess Alexandra Hospital with secondment to Bundaberg Base hospital. He completed Rheumatology specialist training in various hospitals in Queensland including Princess Alexandra Hospital, Greenslopes Private Hospital, Townsville Hospital and Gold Coast University Hospital at the end of 2020.
Kevin is also a current staff specialist and the clinical lead of the Rheumatology Department at Ipswich General Hospital and Ripley Satellite Hospital. He is aware of the discrepancy in care in patients in non-metropolitan regions and is actively improving Rheumatology service delivery in more regional areas by establishing more Rheumatology clinics within the West Moreton Hospital and Health Service. He has also previously held an executive role in the Australian Rheumatology Association.
He is currently appointed as a Senior Lecturer in Medicine at the University of Queensland. He has a keen interest in research and education with various publications as first and co-author. He underwent a clinical research fellowship at the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom in the final year of training in his field of interest, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, with a research focus on inflammatory skin diseases and Lupus Protein Expression Patterns. He is the Principal Investigator for clinical Trials after setting up the Clinical Trials Unit at Ipswich Hospital at the end of 2024.
Kevin likes to integrate his passion for fitness into patient care, and in his spare time, aside from being a film buff, he enjoys staying active by boxing, and is a practitioner of Muay Thai (Thai Kickboxing) for over fifteen years.
